A Rohnert Park man was in jail Tuesday, suspected of being drunk when he crashed before dawn on Highway 12 in Agua Caliente, according to the CHP.

Driver Dylan Tobin, 27, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving for the 4:52 a.m. crash and for causing injuries to his two passengers, CHP Officer Anna Paulson said.

Tobin had been driving east on Highway 12 when he made an unsafe turning move that caused his car to run off of the roadway, then back across the lanes and onto the shoulder, where it flipped and landed on its rooftop, Paulson said.

The crash blocked both highway lanes, but traffic was so light at that hour officers were able to allow controlled traffic to slowly pass, she said.

Tobin and a 25-year-old Rohnert Park man who’d been in the front passenger seat were able to get out of the overturned vehicle on their own. A 27-year-old Santa Rosa woman in the back seat was injured and was removed from the vehicle by firefighters, said Spencer Andreis, Sonoma Valley fire division chief.

She was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

Paulson said the woman hadn’t been wearing a seat belt.

The front passenger apparently suffered minor injuries.

The crash was reported by a 911 caller who told dispatchers they’d heard the sound of a crash and a car rolling. Sonoma Valley and Glen Ellen firefighters responded and found the overturned vehicle just south of Cavedale Road.

CHP officers determined Tobin wasn’t injured but was intoxicated and took him into custody, Paulson said. The roadway opened at about 5:45 a.m.
