The California Highway Patrol reported Friday afternoon that a fatal traffic collision in Kenwood near Dunbar has closed a portion of Highway 12.

Westbound traffic is being turned around at Trinity Road, and eastbound traffic is being turned around at Warm Springs Road, said CHP officials, who are advising drivers to avoid the area.

The collision occurred on the highway between a Porsche and a work truck, authorities said. The driver of the Porsche reportedly was driving recklessly, weaving between lanes and over the double line, and slipped off the shoulder of the highway before striking the work truck on the driver’s side.

The Porsche plowed into a fence and its driver died at the scene, authorities said. There were two people in the truck and neither was injured.

No further information was immediately available.
