High school dance team honored

Sonoma Valley High School’s Dance Team won the varsity jazz division at the Universal Dance Association competition in Sacramento in December. Coach Meredith Regan (top left) received an award for best choreography. Regan offers beginning and advanced dance classes as well as training this team, which practices two days a week after school for two hours. In the dance elective, students develop technical skills in ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, tap and ballroom. They study choreographic principles as well as technique and improvisation. Next up for the Dance Team is the Jamz Dance Competition.
