Greetings to Dickie from SVDOG

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Sonoma Valley Dog Owners and Guardians (SVDOG.org) extends a warm welcome to one of our pack’s newest members, Dickie, City of Sonoma’s first K-9 Officer.

Dickie is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois/German shepherd mix, hails from Hungary and is reportedly bilingual. He has already been involved in a few drug busts and is getting to know the neighbors and the neighborhoods.

Highly trained for a variety of police work, Dickie has a number of skills definitely not taught in Family Dog One. He is friendly but serious and tolerates most humans unless instructed otherwise.

If you see Dickie on patrol with his partner, Deputy Jeff Sherman, say “hi” and let him know the pack has his back. However, dog-lovers are cautioned not to let Pooch take the usual sniffing liberties with Dickie, as he is always “on duty.”

Welcoming treats (no bribes or silly hats) can be sent to: Dickie, care of Sonoma Police Dept., 175 First St. W., Sonoma CA 95476. As of this writing, Dickie is ineligible to run for City Council.
