The Glen Ellen Village Fair takes place on Sunday, Oct. 13, and there are still chances to get involved or offer up services as a volunteer.

This year’s theme of the Glen Ellen Village Fair is “Food for Thought” based on the traditional fair quilt which was hand-sewed by Nancy Murray, MaryAnn Carr, Deb Pool, Margie Foster, Cathy Leonard, Sylvia Crawford, Yvonne Soto-Pomeroy, Chris Gooding, Leslie Smith, Marsha Moran, Janet Hansen, Blythe Carver, Pamela Wiley and Alexa Wood.

The quilt will be raffled off on Oct. 13, and proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Glen Ellen and Mayacamas fire departments, Dunbar Elementary School and other local charities.

Tickets are $2, three for $5, seven for $10 or 15 for $20, and can be purchased at the event or at the Glen Ellen Village Market on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Grand marshals for the fair are local residents Fred and Carol Berger. The fair will bring live music from the Solcats, Flashback, the Cork Pullers and the Jami Jamison Band.

As usual, vendors will line Arnold Drive and sell everything from food and sweets, to jewelry and crafts. A few vendor booth spots remain, and can be rented for $20 for nonprofits, $40 for arts and crafts or $75 for food purveyors. Reserve a booth by contacting glenellenfair@att.net or call Leslie Vaughn at 935-9163.

Vaughn, the president of the Glen Ellen Fair board, is also looking for volunteers to help make the day run smoothly.

Volunteers can pitch in for just an hour or two, or spend the day helping out at the fair. Contact Vaughn for more details on how to help.

And what is a fair without a parade? Those interested in entering the parade can contact Trina and Norm Oliver at msdogi@gmail.com or 935-9030. All the necessary information will be sent upon request.
