Gayle Alvin Hunter

Gayle Alvin Hunter passed away on Dec. 13, 2013, at the age of 66. Gayle was born in Iowa, moved to Sonoma in 1953, and graduated from Sonoma Valley High School. He served in the U.S. Army, then worked as a bank auditor for Crocker Bank over the next 13 years; he was best known in the community as the owner of Uncle Bill’s Gourmet Corn Dogs. Gayle was warm and engaging with a marked sense of humor who loved his hot rods, his country and life in general. He was a wonderful man whose memory will be cherished by his wife, Debra; his daughter, Rachel; his extended family; and many friends. Gayle was a true gentleman of honor and integrity.

Gayle is survived by his loving wife, Debra; and daughter, Rachel Lourdeaux; and his siblings, Larry Hunter (Tuula), Darrell Hunter (Liz), Pat Hromek (Dennis), Barbara Hansen (Bill); and sister In-law, Linda Hunter; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws, Pinky and Julie Cecil.

Gayle was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lillie Hunter; his brother ,Merlyn Hunter; and his nephew, Heath Hunter. Gayle will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Gayle’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building, 126 First St. W., Sonoma.
