A gateway to college for high school dropouts

Letter to the Editor

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Gateway to College is a program for students who have dropped out of high school or who are behind in credits that they need to graduate. To be eligible to get in to this program, you must be 16-to-21 years old.

From my own experience, I recommend Gateway to College because it has given me the opportunity to get my diploma. I feel that youth should take advantage of this program because it helps you get your education a lot easier than high school.

Also, getting your high school diploma in this program goes toward your college credits.

Before coming to this program, I was in a high school where I was doing landscaping and recycling. I was never given the opportunity to be in a regular classroom and to learn basic curriculum that I need to get my diploma.

At first, I thought that this program was going to be hard for me because I didn’t get the basics when I was in high school.

Wow this is a great piece and keep on working hard, Elsy. I showed this to my daughter and this helped her see that alternative paths are not the wrong way, but different ways that sometimes are better than the roads more often traveled. Thank You so much and We really admire you and your work ethic. Keep working hard and happy Thanks TAking
