Free olive curing workshop set



Don “the Olive Guy” Landis will talk about the history of the olive, the history of the olive in California and give a thorough description of how to de-bitter olives to make them edible without lye during a free lecture on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cline Cellars in Sonoma.

The discussion will cover the many varieties of olives, when to pick and other important tips.

Landis will demonstrate three ways to de-bitter olives, making the whole process easy to understand.

The event will conclude with an olive tasting with cheese and crackers. Guests can also explore Cline Cellars’ property, including the Museum of the California Missions.

There is no charge to attend, but reservations are required by calling 940-4025.
