Four-team logjam atop men’s Jack Benny hoops

It’s gotten crowded at the top of the Sonoma Valley Men’s Recreational Basketball’s Jack Benny (39-and-over) Sunday Night League standings.

After a “topsy turvy” two Sundays of action, and a couple of forfeits, there’s a four-team, first-place logjam between defending playoff and regular-season champions Patt’s Copy World and Heffernan Insurance Brokers, respectively, La Salette and Murphy’s Irish Pub with 6-4 records each.

Just one game back at 5-5 are R&B Custom Home Builders, followed by VOM Fire’s 1-9 mark after upending Patt’s Copy 69-60 for its first win of the season last Sunday at the Altimira Middle School gym, led by Edwin Hidalgo’s game-high 31 points with a jaw-dropping nine treys, Jason Campbell’s 12, Gary Johnson’s 10, Matt and Rob Ingersoll’s five each, AJ Armanini’s four and Joe Kirkwood’s two.

In last Sunday’s other played game – Heffernan Insurance Brokers won on a forfeit by La Salette – Murphy’s Irish Pub toppled R&B Custom Home Builders 67-49, led by Jeff Kellogg’s game-high 28 points with three treys, Jamie Svanda’s 16 on four treys, Beni Comma’s 12, Eric Jorgensen’s six, Steve Mellinger’s three and Dan Sooter’s two.
