Flowery Elementary School recently held its promotion ceremony for its 49 fifth graders. Its 22 Bilingual Achievement Award recipients were honored by Principal Esmeralda Sanchez-Moseley and fifth-grade teachers Dora-Aldina Chavarría and Osvaldo Rubio. To qualify for the award, students must earn a B average in Spanish and English language arts, achieve certain scores on Spanish and English standardized tests, write an essay in both languages and perform eight hours of community service.
