Ferguson Observatory sets viewing party Saturday

The Robert Ferguson Observatory, in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, 2605 Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood, will have a solar viewing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19.

Solar telescopes are set up so attendees can safely look at and listen to the sun.

Admission to solar viewing is free, but Sugarloaf Parking is $8 a car

There will also be a public star party at 9 p.m. that day. Attendees are asked to arrive before 11 p.m. to assure that the observatory stays open.

The observatory’s three main telescopes plus many additional telescopes are open for viewing. Ongoing presentations on astronomical topics are given in the classroom. Friendly and knowledgeable docents are available to answer questions.

Admission to the star party is $3 for adults, while those under 18 are free.
