Following the first week of Sonoma Valley High School’s preseason football practice sessions, five other Dragon fall sports programs are ready to begin preparing for the 2014 campaign.
Sonoma’s girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ and girls’ cross-country, boys’ and girls’ water polo and girls’ tennis and golf start their preseason workouts Monday, Aug. 18.
Any student athlete wanting to participate needs to have all her or his paperwork – including current mandatory physical examinations, proof of insurance, completed emergency cards, signed (student and parent) code of conduct forms and paid fees – completed before practicing.
Paperwork, paid fees and proof of physical for all Sonoma fall athletes can be turned in at the student activities office.
The cross-country Dragons are directed by head coach John Litzenberg, and will begin practicing at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, meeting at the benches next to Golton Hall.
Sonoma’s other fall sports head varsity coaches include Bob Midgley, football; Chelsea Scott, volleyball; Pedro Merino, boys soccer; Mike Verdu, girls soccer; Mary Kate Dreyer, girls tennis; Flynn O’Brien, boys/girls water polo; and Dianne Lloyd, girls golf.
