Evelyn Sims

Longtime Sonoma resident, Evelyn Sims, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2014, at the age of 103.

Evelyn was born in the San Ramon Valley of California on Jan. 9, 1911, the daughter of Truby and Lula Smith.

Evelyn was married to long time Sonoma barber, Jack Sims, for 61 years. She was a self-employed hairdresser for numerous years, and among her many clients was, Charmian London, widow of Jack London. In the late ’50s, she began working for Safeway when it opened its first store on Broadway, working there until her retirement in the early ’70s.

She is survived by her two sons, Loren and John; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no services.
