10 music acts to grace Vintage Fest stages in Sonoma

The Vintage Festival is celebrating its 120th year this weekend|

The Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival is bringing a huge amount of free entertainment to the Plaza this weekend.

The Sept. 22 to 24 weekend lineup features local and regional musicians, returning performers and new additions.

The weekend’s musical entertainment will be kicked off at the Opening Night Gala on Friday night, Sept. 22, with a performance by Notorious. Previously performing at the last few Vintage Festivals, Notorious performs current hits, along with ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s classics and Motown, disco, R&B, soul and classic rock.

“Something for Everyone” Saturday hosts six acts performing music ranging from pop to rock to country and more: Radar, a local teen act performing classic rock favorites; Cork Pullers; T Luke and the Tight Suits; Luvplanet; and Danny Click.

“This year we really wanted to once again feature local artists,” said Maria Toimil, president of the festival board. “With such diverse talent being showcased, we’re confident that there’s something for everyone.”

“Tribute Sunday” kicks off with a ZZ Top tribute from Sleazzy Top. The festival is then getting transported back to the ‘70s and ‘80s with a tribute to the Doobie Brothers from Long Train Runnin.’ Ralph Woodson’s “Purple Haze Tribute to Jimi Hendrix” and the popular local Beatles tribute act Rubber Soul wrap up the day.

A new addition to this year’s Vintage Festival is an Acoustic Stage for festival-goers who want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the main event.

Performers on this stage include: Wildflower Weed; Acoustic Soul with Adam Traum, Jaydub and Dino; and Chris Hanlin.

All music performances are free. Attendees of all ages are invited to come down to the Sonoma Plaza and enjoy this year’s diverse music talent while browsing the food, art and local non-profits that will be in attendance.

The nonprofit Vintage Festival serves as a celebration of the grape harvest and Sonoma’s history. Since 1897 community members have enjoyed the Sonoma Valley tradition, making the Vintage Festival the longest running festival in California.
