Transcendence shows to resume in Glen Ellen on June 16

Broadway-inspired productions return for fifth year|

For five summers running, with a fat moon on the horizon doubling down on the romance, Transcendence Theatre Company has performed for outdoor audiences at Jack London State Historic Park. Winner of four Broadway World San Francisco awards, the annual summer song-and-dance series has become a wine country staple. In June, Transcendence’s “Broadway Under the Stars” returns with a series of new shows for the summer season.

The Broadway-inspired concerts feature performers from New York and Los Angeles, many of whom come to the Sonoma stage directly from recent Broadway appearances. Each show weaves well-known show tunes and other popular songs into themed performances staged in the winery ruins atop London Ranch Road.

Beginning with an alfresco preamble on the grassy plains of the park, patrons enjoy gourmet food truck fare, an assortment of wines from local wineries, and pre-show music from local musicians - casting a summery spell of celebration. Sunset heralds the start of the show and the stage comes alight as dusk descends. As Sonoma Mountain purples in the distance and stars wink into view, the Transcendence players take the stage to sing and dance.

Transcendence’s season runs June 16 to Sept. 10, with four separate shows calendared for the year. Tickets range from $40 to $149, with early bird discounts available until May 1. Youth prices apply for “Fantastical Family Night” only. Season flex passes are available, and a portion of every ticket sold benefits Jack London State Historic Park. ?BestNightEver.org or call the box office at 877-424-1414.
