Hearty Har makes festival a Fogerty family affair|

The final Sonoma Music Festival Lineup:

JOHN FOGERTY – Andy Velo – Hearty Har - October 7

STEVE MILLER BAND – Dave Mason- plus others– October 8

TOBY KEITH – Andy Velo – Curly Wolf – Lyndsey Elm - October 9

If the appearance of two Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and a country music star’s only Northern California appearance right here in Sonoma Valley wasn’t enough, Bruce Cohn and the Sonoma Music Festival have added additional acts to the festival. The Friday, Oct. 7, show that features John Fogerty has added Fogerty’s own sons’ band to the bill, with Hearty Har opening the evening performance.

Based out of Los Angeles, Hearty Har is working on their second album and play a variety of genres. Added to the Sunday, Oct. 9, bill is Lyndsey Elm, who recently appeared as a contestant on “The Voice” and wowed the judges with her rendition of Meghan Trainor’s “Lips Are Movin.”

The Sonoma Music Festival is the new iteration of Bruce Cohn’s 28-year fall winery festival.

The complete line-up includes John Fogerty, Andy Velo and the Fogerty kids’ band Hearty Har on Friday, Oct. 7, doors at 3 p.m.

The Steve Miller Band, Dave Mason, Paul Barrere, Gabe Ford, Kenny Gradney and Fred Tackett of Little Feat plus Greg Douglass and the Accomplices – Saturday, Oct. 8 with doors at 2 p.m.

Toby Keith, Andy Velo, the Curly Wolf, and The Voice finalist from Vacaville, Lyndsey Elm – Sunday, Oct. 9 with doors at 3 p.m. Ticket prices, purchases and information are available at sonomamusicfestival.com .

Special standing room tickets for locals will also go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1 for $47. The tickets are only available in person at the cashier’s window at Sonoma Chevrolet, 687 W. Napa St. in Sonoma. Residents will need a valid ID showing they live in the Valley.

There will be a four ticket maximum purchase per person. Last year more than 10,000 attendees enjoyed performances by Ringo Starr, Chicago and Gregg Allman and the event raised more than $250,000 for charity.

This year’s beneficiaries include national and local veteran’s organizations including Fisher House and American Legion Post 489, the Redwood Empire Food Bank and others. Keith is making a special trip to California as he and Bruce Cohn both share the vision of helping veterans causes, and over its 29 years, the festival has donated more than $7 million to national and local charities.

“This is a very important milestone year,” said Cohn. “We needed to top last year and we think we have with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and first time (Sonoma Music Festival) performer John Fogerty plus Hall of Famers Steve Miller Band and Dave Mason Saturday. And we are going country with superstar Toby Keith and up-and-comer Andy Velo, whom I’m now managing, on Sunday.” He added that these are the only Northern California dates for Fogerty and Keith.

The Field of Dreams location was praised last year for allowing sight lines and access no more than 150 feet from the stage. The shows will take place rain or shine.

The weekend event includes food, beer and wine from Lagunitas Brewing, a pop-up HopMonk beer garden, several restaurants serving and wine from B.R. Cohn, Sivas-Sonoma and others.

This year’s event sponsors and partners include: the Lise Sonnen Fund, Buywine.com, Before The Movie, Sivas-Sonoma, KOIT 96.5, KFOX, the River 97.7, The KRSH 95.9, The Eagle, KZST, the City of Sonoma, Lagunitas Brewery, Ramekins, HopMonk Tavern, Sonoma County Tourism, Sonoma Index-Tribune, Sonoma Chevrolet, The Flamingo Conference and Resort, the County of Sonoma and American Storage.
