After spending time in Nashville and other places around the country, Mark Larson re-connected with his long-time friend Tim Casey and convinced him to come out to Wine Country and start a new life here. Things were going well for the guitarist, playing gigs local and in the Napa Valley, as well – then on Jan. 5 of this year, that all changed.

Casey was involved in a head-on accident that totaled his van and almost took his life. Doctors and friends held out hope for his survival and, against long odds, after a month in the intensive-care unit at Stanford Medical Center and numerous procedures, he was released from the ICU. The road to recovery has been slow and will take years.

The accident also totaled Casey’s van – essentially destroying all his belongings, including his amps and guitars. Some of Casey’s local musician friends have put on fundraisers to help defray some of the medical costs and tonight, April 17, there is another one scheduled at Annex Wine Bar, starting at 7:30 p.m. The evening will be special, as it will feature Tim’s sister, Mary Casey-Bowers, who fronts her own act, Calling Mary, and has traveled from Virginia to perform at the event with the Mark Larson Band. Also in the lineup are Voices In My Head, Mark Dennis (musician and director of Sonoma’s rock ‘n’ roll choir, Vox Populi), and the Smart Fellers will play a few tunes from the best of the best of their extensive song list with Sonoma musicians David Farrell and Cliff Zyskowski joining in the act, as well.

In addition to the bands donating all their funds and tips for the evening, the venue will also be contributing, and there will also be a raffle, with all donated funds going to Casey.
