An Evening In Tokaj... in Sonoma

Since 2012, the Sonoma-Tokaj Sister City Committee has worked to create programs to help Sonoma and Tokaj wine students learn about each respective wine region, and work “the crush.” All proceeds from the committee’s various activities go directly toward funding programs such as the student intern exchange between the two cities.

From 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, the nonprofit Sister Cities Committee is presenting its every-other-year fundraiser, “An Evening in Tokaj, Hungary,” which will held be at Burlingame Hall, 252 W. Spain St.

Initially scheduled for last November, the committee postponed the event in order to focus its efforts on local fire relief.

The event will feature authentic Hungarian cuisine, music and dancing. The menu will include chicken paprikash, vegetarian mushroom stew, homemade pastries, and wine from Tokaj vintners and wineries.

The First California Hussars Regiment will present a special opening ceremony, music will be provided by Corvinus Chorus, and there will be traditional Hungarian folk dancing.

Tickets are $60 and available at Eventbrite.com by searching for “Sonoma Tokaj.” Special rates apply for Sonoma Sister Cities Association members and children’s tickets.
