Broadway Bound Kids brings ‘Elf Jr.’ to Sonoma

Huge cast delivers some Christmas magic this weekend|

Based on the beloved holiday film, the fish-out-of-water comedy “Elf Jr” will be performed by the Broadway Bound Kids cast this weekend at the Veterans Memorial Building.

“Elf Jr” features songs by Tony Award-nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.

Buddy, an infant orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole.

The would-be elf is raised, unaware he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity.

Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

“In rehearsals for months, the cast is ready to dazzle Sonoma with this wonderful holiday play,” says Sarah Duran of BBK.

Santa will be in the lobby for photos 30 minutes before performances.

The performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Tickets are sold at Pharmaca, 303 W. Napa St. and at the door.

Box office opens one hour before performance.
