Top Napa Film Fest awards announced

The seventh annual Napa Valley Film Festival announced its 2017 juried and audience award winners at the Uptown Theatre in Napa on Saturday, Nov. 11. The festival, which closed on Sunday, screened 124 films, at nine venues located around the Valley.

“It has been a tough road getting to this year’s festival, but what a perfect way to celebrate great storytelling in all its forms and to showcase the strength and resilience of our Napa Valley community,” said festival co-founder and artistic director Marc Lhormer.

Juried Award:

• Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature was awarded to “Stuck.”

• Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature was awarded to “Skid Row Marathon.”

• Jury Award for Best Screenplay was awarded to “The House of Tomorrow.”

• Jury Award for Best Ensemble Cast was awarded to “The Boy Downstairs.”

• Jury Award for Best Lounge Feature was awarded to “Quest.”

• Special Jury Award – For Depth and Grace in Documentary Filmmaking was awarded to “The Untold Tales of Armistead Maupin.”

• Special Jury Award – Best Breakout Performance in a Lounge Feature Film was awarded to Mackenzie Davis for “Izzy Gets the F#&^ Across Town.”

Audience Awards:

• Audience Award for Favorite Actor was awarded to Gregory Kasyan for “Quest.”

• Audience Award for Favorite Actress was awarded to Olivia Holt for “Class Rank.”

• Audience Award for Favorite Documentary Feature was awarded to “Skid Row Marathon.”

• Audience Award for Favorite Narrative Feature was awarded to “Quest.”

The next festival is slated for Nov. 7 to 11, 2018.
