Daniel Bennett Group to perform in Sonoma

Free album release concert at the library on Oct. 7|

The Daniel Bennett Group is releasing its new CD, “Sinking Houseboat Confusion” at various Sonoma County library branches in October. The group’s music is a mix of modern jazz, avant-pop, and surf rock. The group was voted “Best New Jazz” in Hot House magazine, and been featured in the Washington Post, Boston Globe, NPR, and the Village Voice.

Bennett is joined by renowned guitarist Nat Janoff and percussionist Matthew Feick. The band recently performed its album release at the Blue Note in New York City.

The Boston Globe describes Bennett’s music as “a mix of jazz, folk, and minimalism.” The Village Voice raved, “saxophonist Daniel Bennett makes hay with an airy approach that’s buoyant enough to conjure notions of East African guitar riffs and Steve Reich’s pastoral repetition.”

The group will be performing for free at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Sonoma Valley Library on West Napa Street.
