Metal mobile making workshop at Sonoma Valley Museum of Art

Local artist Martin Munson to teach at SVMA|

In a two-day workshop at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art this weekend, students will learn technique and conceptual development to design and build metal sculptures with presence and movement. Join a sculptural investigation into three-dimensional form, mass and motion with Sonoma artist and sculptor Martin Munson.

Students will hone their sculpting process, technique, and conceptual development through the process of designing and building hanging or mounted sculptures that possess the quality of movement, hence, “kinetic.”

Munson will lead the workshop. Munson’s metal art contrasts natural and man-made structures. Often working with recycled objects, he combines disparate forms and materials in his furniture and artworks.

The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to noon on September 23 and 24, and advance registration is required.

The workshop is $80 SVMA members and $90 for the general public. Register today at svma.org.
