Hollywood Reporter lauds Sonoma actor’s latest show

See what Michael Starr is up to now!|

A new musical has premiered in Seattle to rave reviews and it stars Sonoma actor Michael Starr.

The new show, “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,” is based on the 1997 cult hit film.

Romy and Michele are two inseparable best friends whose relationship is put to the test when they invent fake careers to impress people at their 10-year high school reunion.

Five years ago, as an 18-year-old Starr strutted into Andrews Hall and knocked the socks off the city’s Cultural & Fine Arts Commission’s Student Creative Arts Award judging panel with his singing, dancing and acting audition.

He won the award that year, and has since graduated from UCLA’s prestigious musical theater program. For the past few years he has been booked solid, performing in acclaimed regional and national productions, including most recently appearing as Hans in Disney’s theme park production of “Frozen.”

“Romy and Michele” opened this week and has received great press coverage, including a spread this week in the Hollywood Reporter. The musical runs through July 2 if you find yourself near Seattle’s Fifth Avenue Theater.
