Gay Pride tea dance and mixer in Sonoma on June 8

Sonoma Valley event for LGBT seniors|

The Sonoma Valley lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual seniors group invites all older LGBT adults to a tea dance and mixer from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 8. The party will take place at the Reel Fish House and Grill on Riverside at Grove Street.

Dance music will be provided by DjMaxx. There is no cover and a no-host bar.

Sonoma Valley’s LGBT senior group gathers monthly for discussion sessions, walks and other activities. There is a specific lesbian group in Sonoma that has more than 80 members.

Group members Gary Hermes and Nancy Dito launched a tradition of regular tea dances for the group in 2009, thanks to a grant from Spectrum, the North Bay Center for LGBT Concerns.

There are no age requirements but most people in the group are in their 50s, 60s and 70s.

There will be an LGBT Stompers night on Friday, June 23.

In recent years, the group has also partnered with the Sonoma Valley High Gay Straight Alliance to march in Sonoma’s 4th of July parade.
