Sonoma teens star in ‘Sister Act’ at Justin-Siena

New Justin-Siena production opens March 24 and stars seven Sonoma Valley teens|

Seven local teens who attend Justin-Siena have roles in the high school’s new production, “Sister Act: A Divine Musical Comedy.”

Starring in this weekend’s production are seniors Alyssa Bonfigli and Renee Druan, sophomores Rose McGovern and Shawnee Wallace and freshmen Kevyn O’Neill, Mia Johnson and Morgan Dalcamo.

“Sister Act” is part of an ongoing celebration at Justin-Siena this year in honor of its 50th anniversary.

The show opens at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24. There will be four evening performances and two matinees over two weekends.

This musical comedy is based on the 1992 hit film of the same name that starred Whoopi Goldberg. Featuring music by Tony-winner Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Little Shop of Horrors”), “Sister Act tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look-a convent.

“‘Sister Act: A Divine Musical Comedy’ is filled with gospel and disco music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story,” says the production’s director James Thomas.

The show is being performed at Napa Valley Performing Arts Center in Yountville. Tickets at www.lincolntheater.com or by calling 944-9900.
