The Sonoma Community Center’s seventh annual Trashion Fashion runway show will take place Saturday, March 25, at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building.

Professional and amateur designers age 9 and up are invited to enter an original garment created from recycled materials for the runway show; the deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.

This year the SCC is expanding the event to encompass a full week of activities from March 18 to 26.

Events include a self-guided walking tour of downtown Sonoma featuring two dozen Trashion garments on display in businesses around town and an exhibit of 101 Trashion Barbies, which opens Saturday, March 18 at the SCC. Trashion Week culminates March 26 with Dogs on the Catwalk at the Community Center.

Information about Trashion Week is available at trashionfashionsonoma.org or by calling 938-4626, ext. 3.

“Trashion Fashion is a powerful reminder that so much of what we throw away everyday can be reused or repurposed,” said SCC’s special projects manager Margaret Hatcher. “A little creativity can transform what we normally think of as junk into something remarkable.”
