Free Art Escape party on Aug. 27

A busy summer schedule at the nonprofit comes to a close with two more free events.|

Offering a beautiful and free chance to get back to nature, Art Escape Sonoma is hosting an “Art of Nature” event on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Larson Park. “We’re inviting families to come explore nature alongside Sonoma Creek, to collect seeds at the community garden and to taste summer vegetables,” said Art Escape’s Kate Ortolano. The event includes a nature-themed art project and the chance for the community to learn more about Sonoma’s lesser-known community park, Larson.

The free event is bilingual and open to all ages. Larson Park is located at 329 DeChene Ave. and the “Art of Nature” party runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Art Escape is also participating in the community-wide Saturday, Sept. 10 Springs Festival at Larson and in the Plein Festival that same Saturday on the Plaza.

Closing out a busy summer schedule in its studio, Art Escape’s last free teen night of the summer is on Friday, Aug. 26 from 6 to 10 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by Art Escape and Creative Sonoma’s summer arts youth programs.

Coming soon at Art Escape is a monthly series of free bilingual family workshops. No Spanish or art experience is necessary to participate in the classes that will run every Sunday in September and October. This projecy is funded by CalArtsCouncil.

In Art Escape’s gallery exhibition space through Saturday, Sept. 24 is a show featuring Barbara Jacobsen, Emma Diaz, Gayle Manfre, Janis Kobe, Susan Beer, Susan Heeringa- Pieper, Wei Chen, Nancy Bercu, Gina Lopez, Maya Harris, Yessenia Anguiano, Thena Trygstad, Kate Ortolano and works by a variety of teen artists.
