Conservatory dances ‘Around the World’

The Sonoma Conservatory of Dance will host its 11th annual Summer Dance Workshop performance at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Sebastiani Theatre, 476 First St. E., Sonoma.

Since June 29, students have been in the Conservatory’s annual Summer Dance Workshop, which this year has been celebrating pieces worldwide. 

The theme is “Around the World” and the performance will showcase pieces from Scotland, Spain, Italy, Russia and the U.S. Dancers have been studying classical ballet, modern, jazz, flamenco, ballroom and Scottish folk dance, plus pool ballet and Pilates. 

Gathering together inspiring teachers from around the Bay Area and Europe, the Conservatory’s Summer Dance Workshop is designed to offer students the best training and widest exposure to dance styles from across the globe - all without having to leave Sonoma.

Tickets are free, but there is a suggested donation of $10. Tickets can be reserved at the Conservatory’s website, sonomadancestudio.com or by calling 938-1424.
