Kate Kennedy’s annual performing arts Camp Shakespeare will run June 29 to July 10 at the Sebastiani Theatre.

Kennedy, a former Sonoma Treasure and renowned director of the local Shakespeare troupe, Avalon Players, demonstrates that it is much more fun to be in her camp, than not to be.

The awe-struck and the awesome come together in this learning adventure where youngsters become aspiring actors and performers while focusing on the works of that famous classic bard, Mr. William Shakespeare himself. This is a unique and challenging experience not to be missed for ages 10 and up.

Camp programs emphasize developing a young person’s skills, talent, self-confidence and teamwork abilities. Campers gain a deeper understanding of themselves, each other and our world through positive learning experiences with a focus on Shakespeare and the literary and symbolic meaning of his words. Learning and teaching and many fun experiences take place in small groups with lots of individual attention, and culminate in a dramatic performance at the end of camp. Former Camp Shakespeare participants have gone on to serious study at such places as the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England.

The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 29 to July 10. Tuition is $450 with a deposit of $150 to be paid upon enrollment. Call 338-5430 or go to info@rhotenproductions.com.
