Film series features ‘Graduate’

The Sebastiani Theatre Foundation presents “The Graduate,” at 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, as part of its Vintage Film Series #10 with classic movies showing one Monday each month, through June.

Movie lovers of all ages now have the opportunity to experience these classic films the way they were meant to be seen – on the big screen. A fundraising effort by the Sebastiani Theatre Foundation, the Vintage Film Series brings some of the most memorable classic films back to the historic Sebastiani Theatre.

“The Graduate,” (1967), was directed by Mike Nichols and starring Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katharine Ross. Written by Calder Willingham (screenplay) and Buck Henry (screenplay), “The Graduate,” tells of the recent college graduate, Benjamin Braddock, who is trapped into an affair with Mrs. Robinson, the wife of his father’s business partner, and then finds he is falling in love with her daughter, Elaine. Rated Approved (106 minutes).

Upcoming films include:

• Monday, April 20, 7 p.m. – “Doubt,” (2008), directed and written by John Patrick Shanley (screenplay and play), stars Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams.

• Monday, May 18, 7 p.m. – “To Kill a Mockingbird,” (1962), directed by Robert Mulligan and written by Harper Lee (novel) and Horton Foote (screenplay), stars Gregory Peck, John Megna, and Frank Overton.

• Monday, June 15, 7 p.m. – “American Graffiti,” (1973) was directed by George Lucas and written by Lucas, Gloria Katz, and Willard Huyck.

Vintage Film Series tickets can be purchased for $9 per individual movie. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Wine by the glass will be offered for sale at each movie. All proceeds will benefit the Sebastiani Theatre Foundation.

The Sebastiani Theatre is located at 476 First St. E., Sonoma.
