The Sonoma Theatre Alliance Teens ‘N Training Program is staging “Carrie: The Musical,” for six performances, Wednesday, Feb. 25 to Sunday, March 1, on the Rotary Stage in the Sonoma Community Center’s Andrews Hall.

This musical adaptation of Stephen King’s classic story is directed by Teens ‘N Training Education Director Libby Oberlin. Oberlin said, “‘Carrie: The Musical’ is about communication and self-expression. The audience will bear witness to what happens when people lose the ability to communicate their feelings and needs to each other. We’ve decided to shine a light on our current obsession with social media by having actors live tweet, text, and post during the show using #CarrieOnSonoma. ‘Carrie: The Musical’ shows the dangers of using social media against people, so we’ve purposely decided to use social media to reach a wider audience and share the important messages in our play.”

The production is supported by a grant from the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 students/seniors and can be purchased on-line at svbo.org or by calling 938-4626, ext. 1.

The Sonoma Community Center is located at 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma.
