Pitta brings laughs to SCC’s Rotary Stage

Comedian got his start in SF|

The Sonoma Community Center continues its 2015 Winter Performance Series on the Rotary Stage in Andrews Hall on Saturday, Feb. 7, with stand-up comedian Mark Pitta.

Pitta is a national comedic headliner who got his start in the fervent San Francisco comedy scene of the 1980s. “It was the best time to want to be a comedian,” Pitta said. “It got us all ready for Los Angeles when it was time to jump into that scene.”

Pitta’s career flourished in Los Angles as he fulfilled his dream of appearing on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson. He subsequently made appearances with Jay Leno before landing jobs hosting television shows on the Fox Network and NBC. Pitta has also made guest appearances on television shows including “Mad About You” and “Third Rock From the Sun” and several shows on the Comedy Central Network. Closer to home, Bay Area residents know Pitta from his role on a top-rated morning show out of San Francisco where he brings his unique comic expertise to the “man on street” format.

In addition to his television career, Pitta is a favorite on the stand up comedy scene, running a weekly comedy showcase in Mill Valley at 142 Throckmorton Theatre. The showcase provides emerging comics a chance to develop their acts, and features special guests including Dana Carvey, the late Robin Williams, and Richard Lewis.

Most recently, Pitta performed for a month at The Laugh Factory at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas.

Pitta performs on the Rotary Stage in the Sonoma Community Center’s Andrews Hall. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. – doors open at 7.

Tickets and the full Winter Performance Series lineup is available online at svbo.org, by calling 938-4626, ext. 1, or in person at the Sonoma Community Center office, 276 E. Napa St. in Sonoma.
