Transcendence wins ‘Theater of the Year’

Wins award for second-straight year from Broadway World|

Transcendence Theatre Company, producer of the “Broadway Under the Stars in Jack London State Park” concert series, was chosen as “Theater of the Year” for the second consecutive year by Broadway World San Francisco.

The top Broadway World honor was the crowning achievement of the 10 Awards bestowed on Transcendence Theatre Company.

Broadway World is the world’s largest theatre site on the Internet and honors the theatrical arts in many communities across the U.S.

“We are grateful and honored beyond belief to be recognized again by Broadway World San Francisco,” said Amy Miller, Transcendence’s artistic director. “These awards are a collective win for the entire Sonoma community and we’d like to thank every single patron, volunteer, supporter, sponsor and artist who continue to make our work and impact a reality.”

“Broadway Under the Stars,” a signature presentation by Transcendence Theatre Company, was also honored as “Best Special Theater Event” for the third consecutive year.

Other Broadway World Awards celebrating Transcendence Theatre Company’s 2014 season include Best Production Performed For Youth – “Fantastical Family Night”; and Best Choreographer – Molly Alvarez (“Broadway Under The Stars”), both for the second year in a row. Individual artist awards went to Best Direction Of A Musical – Melissa Giattino (“One Singular Sensation”); Best Solo Performance – Lexy Fridell; Best Lighting Design – Jeffrey Porter; and Best Sound Design- Nils Erickson.

These Broadway World Awards honor the successful “Broadway Under the Stars” 2014 season, which played to more than 16,000 patrons and raised $45,000 for Jack London State Historic Park.
