The Sonoma Valley Library will host a Winter Reading Program for library patrons 18 and older starting Tuesday, Jan. 6, through Saturday, Feb. 28.

The program motivates adult readers to read more and challenge them to read books outside their comfort zone.

Progress is tracked on a “Book Bingo Card” with designations in each square, such as science fiction and biography. For each Bingo completed, readers earn a ticket for the drawing on March 14. Prizes are gift certificates to local businesses. There will be a grand prize drawing for “Black Outs.”

To participate, come to the library on or after Tuesday, Jan. 6, and pick up a “Book Bingo Card” from library staff. Staff can assist with checking on library accounts, issuing new library cards and finding good books to read.

“The library has wildly successful reading programs for youngsters during the summers,” said Lisa Musgrove, the library manager. “We designed this program so grown-ups can have some reading fun, spice up their reading routine and earn chances to win some nice prizes!”

This program is free and available to library card-holders over 18 years of age. It is funded by the Sonoma Valley Friends of the Library. The library is located at 755 W. Napa St. For more information, go to sonomalibrary.org/adults/adult-book-bingo; contact Lisa Musgrove at lmusgrove@sonoma.lib.ca.us; or call 996-5217.
