Senior Ed Pomeroy caught two touchdown passes and senior Cordell Kenniston scored once on the ground as the Sonoma Valley High Dragons beat Healdsburg 21-14, Friday.

Sonoma jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. The Dragons dominated the first half not allowing Healdsburg past mid-field until late in the second quarter when Sonoma turned the ball over on a fumble. The ’Hounds were going to settle for a field goal, but a Dragon offside made them reconsider and Healdsburg scored a touchdown to narrow the gap to 14-7.

The Dragons put another touchdown on the board in the third quarter to take a 21-7 lead. Healdsburg scored a touchdown with 29 seconds left in the game to make the game look closer than it was.

The win gives Sonoma a 5-2 record, and 2-1 in the SCL. Friday, the Dragon travel to Forestville to face a beleaguered El Molino team that has been outscored 106-0 in the past two games and has been shut-out five times this season.
