Dragon gridders host San Marin tonight

Last Friday the Sonoma Valley High School varsity football boys dropped a close 26-21 season-opening decision to visiting Galena from Reno.

Tonight the Dragons will try to break into the 2014 win column, but it’s going to be a challenge because they’re hosting longtime nonleague foe San Marin at 7:30 p.m. under the Arnold Field lights, with the junior varsity game starting at 5.

The Sonoma gridders remain at Arnold Field for their rare four-game stretch of home games with clashes against Fremont of Oakland on Friday, Sept. 19, and their Sonoma County League season opener versus longtime rival Petaluma Friday, Sept. 26.

Sonoma’s varsity volleyball girls are hosting their annual Greg Paganini Invitational Tournament, which benefits the Greg Paganini Scholarship Fund and features a highly competitive 16-team field, starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 20, in Pfeiffer Gym.

Then the three-time defending Sonoma County League champion Lady Dragons will begin their quest for a fourth straight title when they host longtime rival Petaluma in their SCL opener Tuesday night, Sept. 16, in Pfeiffer Gym, with the junior varsity beginning at 5, and the varsity playing at 6:30 p.m.
