Dragon boys hoops host Casa tonight

With Saturday's end of Sonoma Valley High School’s fall sports campaigns at the postseason North Coast Section cross-country meets in Hayward, Sonoma's winter sports programs, with two weeks of workouts in the books, will put their 2013-14 regular seasons in play with a busy week of basketball.

Tipping off the season with the annual Foundation Games, benefitting Sonoma County scholarship programs, taking place tonight, with the Lady Dragons playing Cardinal Newman in Santa Rosa, while the Sonoma varsity boys host Casa Grande at 7:30 p.m. in Pfeiffer Gym – freshmen play at 4:30 and junior varsity at 6.

The Dragon hoops boys then open their nonleague preseason at Ukiah tomorrow night, Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will remain on the road until Tuesday, Dec. 10, when they host San Marin.

Sonoma’s varsity girl cagers are hosting their annual alumnae game at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 27, in Pfeiffer Gym – any Lady Dragon alumna cager interested in playing can contact assistant coach Sheila Brady at 287-0571 or email at sheila@ladydragonbasketball.org, or Sarah Semenero at 322-0261.

The Lady Dragons open their nonleague preseason schedule by hosting both Sir Francis Drake and Napa this Saturday, Nov. 30, and next Tuesday, Dec. 3, respectively, in Pfeiffer Gym, with the freshmen starting at 4:30, the junior varsity begin at 6, and the varsity plays at 7:30 p.m.

Sonoma’s varsity girls will then host their annual Dragon Classic from Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 5 to 7.
