Dragon boy cagers host Terra Linda tonight

It’s been a week and a day since the Sonoma Valley High School varsity basketball boys pulled off their dramatic four-overtime victory at Mt. Diablo and they hope to carry over the momentem from the emotional win into their final nonleague action before the Sonoma County League season begins.

The Dragons will host Terra Linda in their final home game for nearly a month at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Pfeiffer Gym – the junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m. – before competing in the Marin Catholic Tournament which runs Dec. 26 to 30.

Sonoma’s boys will then complete their nonleague schedule at Windsor on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The Dragon cagers then open their SCL campaign at Healdsburg on Tuesday, Jan. 7, followed by SCL road games at Petaluma and El Molino on Jan. 11 and 14, before finally returning home to host league foe Piner on Thursday, Jan. 16.

Sonoma’s jayvee hoops boys captured their first victory of the young season on the road last week by a 66-58 margin over nonleague Mt. Diablo.

Leading the Dragon jayvees were sophomore Spencer McNairy’s game-high 23 points to go with six rebounds, three steals and two assists; sophomore Max Yankovich’s double-double of 12 points and a game-high 16 rebounds to go with four steals; sophomore Edwin Reyes’ 10 points; sophomore Austin Chapin’s nine points, eight rebounds and two steals; sophomore Miles Pimentel’s seven points, five rebounds and two assists; sophomore Freddie Padilla’s two points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals; sophomore Joe Peterson’s two points and two steals; and sophomore Travis Claeys one point.
