Dismayed at Bolling’s departure

Editor, Index-Tribune

I am quite dismayed at the departure of David Bolling from the paper. We have had a subscription for over 20 years and I feel that this event will be the demise of the paper.

The change of Sonoma Magazine from an intellectual and deeply researched magazine to a tourist magazine was the first sign of trouble. Since then I have been watching the paper diminish in depth and vibrancy. I have been so proud over the years of the Sonoma Index-Tribune.

Visitors would come from out of town and they would be envious of our paper. I was always so proud to read the editorials he wrote and share them with others. David Bolling obviously cared so much for the community and covered those who live here so deeply.

We live in a very special town with very special people and David understood that and really celebrated it. I am at a loss as to how losing David could help the paper or help our community at all. I am frankly appalled.
