Demagoguery vs. democracy

After reading all the letters and articles regarding Measure B, I have come to the conclusion that the issue is more about distrust of our public officials than it is about “protecting” Sonoma. When the public makes laws (Proposition 13 and prohibition of gay marriage are two that come to mind), the outcome can be, and often is, a disaster.

The public does best when it engages in the democratic action of voting. So, let the public do what it does best: vote to change leadership of this community and forget about using the democratic process to make laws which are poorly crafted and are rife with unintended consequences.
