The City of Sonoma Cultural and Fine Arts Commission’s 2014 Student Creative Arts Award Program is now open for entries.
This award program is open to Sonoma Valley residents between the age of 16 and 21 who are studying visual, literary or performing arts. Lisa Carlsson, chair of the Cultural and Fine Arts Commission, said, “We are pleased to again be able to offer a $2,000 award to local up-and-coming artists to help them further their studies in the arts. I’ve been truly amazed by the talent demonstrated by Sonoma Valley students.”
Applicants must submit a completed application form; a 200- to 500-word statement explaining the role that art has played in their life and what their plans are for continuing their artistic training; a portfolio of at least five works; and all will be asked to participate in an interview by commission members.
The application form may be downloaded from the city’s website sonomacity.org or by contacting the City Clerk.
The deadline to submit an entry is Jan. 17, 2014.
