Comedy will take over Murphy’s Irish Pub twice next week with shows hosted by Torio Van Grol on Thursday, Aug. 21, and again on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Barry Rothbart, who headlines the 8 p.m. show Thursday, is one of the young rising stars in comedy today, as one of the stars of MTVs revamp of “Punk’d,” as a stand-up guest on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Conan,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “Adam DeVine’s House Party” on Comedy Central, as well as landing a role of Ben on TNT’s “Men of A Certain Age.”

He co-wrote and starred in the IFC show “Do Whatever,” and could be seen in a series of national commercials including: Taco Bell, Honda and Miller Light. He was named a “New Face” and “Best of the Fest” performer at the 2011 Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, was again honored at the festival in 2013 as one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch,” and was invited to the New York, Boston, and Underground Comedy Festivals.

Danny Solomon and Michael Montgomery are also on the bill.

Saturday, there are two shows, 7 and 9:30 p.m. featuring Ahmed Bharoocha.

Joe Gorman and Zack Chapaloni will also be performing.

Bharoocha is quickly becoming a household name amongst comics and comedy fans alike. In 2012, he was selected for New Faces in the Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival. In 2013 he was featured on Comedy Central’s new stand-up show “Adam Devine’s House Party.” His sketch group, Dead Kevin, was featured on Tosh.0, and named by LAWeekly as one of the top comedy acts to watch.

In 2009, he was handpicked by David Letterman’s Eddie Brill to perform in the Great American comedy festival, and in 2010 he won the Magner’s Comedy Festival. He has been a regular in several other notable fests including Glasgow, Boston Comedy Fest, Seattle Comedy Fest, RIOT LA, Bridgetown Comedy Fest and many others.
