Rotary of Sonoma Valley is planning for its annual fund-raising bash, “Applause.” As the third event approaches, due to be unveiled at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Hanna Boys Center, attendees are at work on their individual table themes.
Each table project involves decorating, costumes, and meal to fit each theme. Celebrity judges will accordingly choose “Best Decorated Table,” “Best Table Theme,” “Best Food,” and “Best Overall Table.”
The outdoor event is jam-packed with picnicking, entertainment, music and dancing, and both live and silent auctions of 200-plus items. Tickets are still available for $75 apiece either online at svbo.org or by calling the Sonoma Community Center Box Office at 938-4626, ext.1. However, tables are filling fast.
Among the live auction items are hand-painted wooden wine keg tops, created and donated by two well-known Sonoma artists, Katherine Paus and Scott Sherman. Paus, known for her award-winning impressionistic landscapes has been exhibited in galleries around the U. S., several being held in private and corporate collections. Sherman, whose versatility in art is depicted in two books he has published, is well-loved as the owner of The Framery of Sonoma since 1973, where he operates a custom framing business, art studio and gallery.
All funds raised provide for the many Rotary donations of support for the many local agencies and organizations such as Rotary Youth Scholarships, projects and grants.
