Happy Super Moon Sonoma! Did you see that moon last Saturday night? OMG! You could practically reach out and touch it.
Doc and I were out playing with the tennis ball in the moonlight at 11 p.m. It was awesome. The days unfortunately are getting a wee bit shorter, but summer is still in full force and I hope everyone is having a blast.
We only had two stray dogs on July 5, after the fireworks and both were safely returned to their owners the same day. Thanks Sonoma for taking care of your pets during the big bang.
I honestly had never seen the fireworks in Sonoma and, wow, they were spectacular. Well done! I love our cozy little burg set in the Mayacamas.
Big news at Pets Lifeline. We are partnering with the City of Sonoma to issue new dog licenses. If you have a dog who has never been licensed and live within the city limits, you can now come to Pets Lifeline for your dog license.
We are not set up yet to do renewals, but we can issue new licenses. A significant portion of the license fee will go directly to Pets Lifeline and your dog will be too legit to quit (just to coin an old MC Hammer phrase). It’s easy and only takes about five minutes. Just bring your rabies vaccination records with you and we’ll get you set up with your license. The fees are very reasonable at $25 per license and $10 for seniors over 62, so please call or just come on down with your paperwork.
Do you support Pets Lifeline and like to walk? Well there’s an app for that. You have to love technology sometimes. There is a new app for your smartphone (iPhone, Galaxy, etc.) called ResQWalk. This is a free app that just became available a few weeks ago and is so easy to use.
All you do is download the app and chose Pets Lifeline as your shelter of choice. Then whenever you go out for a walk, a jog or even a bike ride, go to the app and hit START WALK and then FINISH when you are done.
Every week there is a pool of funds that has been raised by their parent company ResQThreads, which sells fun pet adoption T-shirts and accessories. So far the pool has been $1,000 a week, but is anticipated to grow. The GPS in your phone tracks your distance and a portion is donated to Pets Lifeline. So far we received $2.88 and that’s just from me. If we all used the app when we take our dogs out for their walk everyday, that could add up. It’s absolutely brilliant.
Last but not least, tickets are on sale for our third annual Paws for a Cause at petslifeline.org or 996-4577, ext. 110. This year is going to be fantastic with Ten Foot Tone providing the musical entertainment. We kept the ticket price the same – $95 because we want you all to be there.
It’s set in a charming barn on the property of Vintage Kennel Club, Dog Ranch and Spa, a local gem of a business. The owners have generously donated the space to us every year and we dress up the barn with a long family-style dining table down the middle and individual tables in the stalls. The menagerie of animals that inhabit the property which include horses, a miniature brahman bull, beautiful Jacob sheep and even a camel visit with the guests while they enjoy a gourmet meal from Grapevine Catering and the treasures of the local vintners are poured. We’ve created a new fashion trend just for the event we call barn chic.
