‘Two Gentlemen of Sonoma’ continues

The Sonoma/Petaluma State Historic Parks Association, production of “Two Gentlemen of Sonoma” continues through Aug. 2.

Net proceeds from the production will go to support the association’s work in providing funding for school tours, interpretive programs and repairs to the historic buildings which make up the Sonoma State Historic Park.

The production is a lively adaptation of William Shakespeare’s first comedy restaged in pre-1840s Northern California with Sonoma and Petaluma replacing Verona and Milan. Historical figures Gen. Vallejo, and Capt. John Sutter make appearances as Shakespeare’s Duke of Milan and Thurio.

The production will be staged against the historic backdrop of the courtyard of the Sonoma Barracks.

It was produced first in Petaluma at the Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park in 2012 to critical acclaim.
