Curtain rises on ‘The Many Faces of Love’ at SCC

Under the umbrella title of “The Many Faces of Love,” Sonoma Stage Works presents four classic American one-act plays now through July 27 on the Rotary Stage in Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center.

There is a rip-snorter by Tennessee Williams called “Moony’s Kid Don’t Cry,” a who-dun-it by Susan Glaspell and a play about emancipation in a nursing home by Romulus Linney.

The last play, “Can Can,” also by Romulus Linney, follows two romances to their final unpredictable ending. Fourteen actors, most from Sonoma Valley, combine their talents to present this rich and varied evening, as part of Sonoma Theatre Alliance’s 2014 Festival of Theater.

Two local directors, Julia Holsworth and Bill Shea take the reins as well as veteran director Joey Hoeber from San Rafael.

The production runs Thursday through Saturday nights at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and $20 on Thursdays, are available by phone at 938-4626 ext. 1, or svbo.org.

The Sonoma Community Center is located at 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma.
