King Daddy Murr returns, will play Sonoma gigs

The Tuesday column is typically a lot of “who, what, when, where” but when someone as significant to the local music scene as Johnn Murphy, aka “King Daddy Murr” comes back to town, well, it’s going to be the headline. After retiring from a career of work at the Sonoma Developmental Center, Murr and his wife moved to the “Big Easy” and he’s been playing down in New Orleans almost non-stop. Murr has played with, and even helped start, many a local musician’s career in Sonoma, with his jams in Murphy’s Garage, literally his garage, which later became an act, Highway 12, and the most recent being E. Z. Kewl, just to name a few. Back in town for his son Zakk’s nuptials, we knew he couldn’t come back without playing a few shows. Check out the details below.

The Tuesday night market has the Whiskey Thieves on the horseshoe lawn tonight, July 1, starting at 6 p.m.

The El Verano Inn has Karaoke tonight, July 1, kicking off at 8:30 p.m.
