One of most entertaining tournaments of the year took place on Friday, May 2, with the Murphy’s Bottomfeeders Open, played once again at Oakmont’s West Course.

This year’s event saw the team of Hunt Bailey, August Sebastiani, Norman Owens and Brian Cassayre capture first place; followed in second place by Kathy Barnett, Beth Donovan and Cindy Schultz; while the Irish team of Dermot Whelan, Hugh Whelan, Don Shaw and Michael Palmer took third.

The men’s longest drive went to Casey Heuen, and the women’s award went to Beth Donovan.

Sam Morphy showed off some of his skills, grabbing the men’s closest-to-the-pin, while Schultz took home the ladies prize.

The always popular shortest drive went to Murphy’s manager Hunt Bailey.

Names of the tournament winners will now be embroidered on the green blazers that hang in the pub and can be used by those winners when they visit.

The Bottomfeeders Open raised more than $3,200 for the Adele Harrison Middle School Theater and Arts program.
