Following the success of their Bridge School League champion and postseason North Coast Section Division-6 semifinalist basketball team, and individual league champion and NCS medaling wrestlers, the Archbishop Hanna High School’s baseball boys are currently having a standout spring season.
On Tuesday, the Hanna Hawks swept a double-header from Laytonville and have extended their winning streak to seven straight games and improving their record to 10-2.
Comprising the Hanna baseball Hawks – directed by head coach Justin Weaver and assistant coaches Manny Arreguin and Dave Montano – are seniors Joe Bhai, Robert Hamdani, Alonzo Jimenez, Jared Noe, Dage Rivergo and Wesley Trujillo; juniors Dominic Cancilla, Victor Echeverria, Tyler Leztte and Damien Segura; and sophomores Aj Dieteman, Jose Jimenez, Angel Luna and Dakota Woltering.
In a game-one 5-2 victory over Laytonville, the Hawks were led by starting pitcher Cancilla’s sixth win without a loss; Noe’s two-for-three with two RBIs and two runs scored; Alonzo Jimenez’s two-for-four with an RBI; and Lezotte’s one-for-three with a run.
Leading the Hanna boys to a 12-0 nightcap rout of Laytonville were Dieteman’s two-hitter for his first pitching win of the season to go with his two-for-four with two RBIs and two runs; Alonzo Jimenez’s four-for-four with two RBIs and three runs; Jose Jimenez’s three-for-four with two RBIs and three runs; Woltering’s two-for-three with two RBIs; and Bhai’single, RBI and two runs.
Hanna Boys Center is offering its Hanna Hawks sports and recreation summer camps for boys and girls ages 5 years old to high school, including an all-day rec camp June 16 to 20, June 23 to 27, July 7 to 11, July 14 to 18; basketball camp June 23 to 27; baseball camp July 14 to 18; and soccer camp July 7 to 11.
