Fondo ride raised $3,600; pups need forever homes

Greetings Sonoma! Thank you to all who supported the shelter in my Ride for the Animals last Saturday in the Sonoma Gran Fondo. I love the feeling at the start of the ride when we all peddle our way down Napa Street.

I had a few well-wishers out in the early hours to cheer me on. Thanks Irene, Susan and Monna. We raised more than $3,600 for the animals and I can’t tell you how much that means to us. Now for any of you reading this who were on the ride and did not stop for the stray puppy on Old Sonoma Highway just before the turn onto Old Sonoma Road, you are welcome to send in a $10 donation to Pets Lifeline.

Yes, indeed, there she was ducking and weaving between the onslaught of bicycles as we were all coming into our stride about a third of the way through the route. Of course I stopped to help her out and found her yard a few doors down with her sibling and mom out in the yard. Who knows how she got out, but losing a bit of time on the ride was worth it to get that gangly little Great Dane pup home.

We have a few cute little pups here up for adoption that you should check out. Chelsea is a 3-to-4-month-old terrier/beagle mix that is the color of wheat and just the sweetest thing. Our volunteer puppy foster goddess, Ellen, has been taking her home to train and socialize during the afternoons, so she is well on her way to good manners.

There is also Quincy, an 8-month-old rust-colored terrier/pug mix with white toes and white chest – he is a cutie patutie with all the love you can possibly fit into one dog. Chip is our more mature gentleman who looks like an oversized Boston terrier, a very sweet dog who would make a great companion for anyone.
